Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Get Fossils
Fossils are back for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Here's what you need to know.
While exploring your island in Animal Crossing you'll occasionally get the chance to dig up Fossils. If you're new to the series, you might not know what to do with them, but you should know that they are an extremely good way of making Bells and building up your museum. We'll teach you everything you need to know in this guide.
How to Get Fossils
To get Fossils in Animal Crossing New Horizons you'll need to look for X shapes on the ground. You can use a shovel (more on getting one here) to dig up the spot, awarding you a Fossil. You can then recover the hole with 'Y' if you wish.
How Many Fossils Can You Find Each Day?
Each day, you'll get the opportunity to dig up four Fossils. Make sure to get out there and collect all of them every day.

What to Do With Fossils
There are a few things that you can do with Fossils. We've listed them below:
- Donate them - you can donate Fossils to Blathers at the museum (more info on that in this guide).
- Sell Fossils - if you'd rather sell Fossils, feel free. They are often worth a couple of thousand Bells a piece, so can be a great way to make money.
- Store Fossils - if you want, you can store Fossils too, and start your own collection.
