Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Opens Up Island For Turnip Sales, Elijah Wood Shows Up

And he teaches us all a lesson in proper island etiquette.

Turnip stocks have dominated the discussion around Animal Crossing: New Horizons for weeks since launch. Entire tools, websites, spreadsheets, and Discords have become dedicated to maximizing profit on Timmy and Tommy's vegetal stock market.

When one player opened up their island to strangers, allowing them to offload their turnip hauls at a whopping price of 599 Bells per turnip (for those who don't play, that's a pretty huge profit), they were inundated with requests. But one in particular stood out: famous actor Elijah Wood.

Twitter user Jessa got a DM and subsequent visit from Elijah Wood, who you might know from his role as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. The actor showed up to sell some stockpiled veggies, and then hung around to tour the island and observe the local fauna and wildlife.

But most importantly, Wood asked for permission before picking some fruit from the island. Every single Animal Crossing player, especially those that visit my island, should take notes here: ask before you pick fruit! We're all happy to share, but it's a nice courtesy and prevents a situation where the island host has their orchard picked clean.

Wood left the island after voicing some support for director Rian Johnson, but we can all learn from his example. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become incredibly popular, due in part to the ongoing social distancing practices in response to COVID-19, so it's best to be kind and not deforest your friends' islands in pursuit of pears.

The latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which brings a number of updates including a shrubbery shop to islands everywhere, went live today. Head over to our guides section for all the info on what's new in the game.
