Animal Crossing New Horizons: What Do Wands Do?

Wands are one of the stranger aspects of Animal Crossing New Horizons. Here's everything you need about wands.

You'll likely discover wands pretty early on in Animal Crossing New Horizons, but you probably won't know what to do with them. They are certainly one of the stranger items you can use in game, allowing you to control the way you switch outfits in a really useful way. In this guide we'll explain how to get a wand, and what they are for.

What Do Wands Do in Animal Crossing New Horizons?

Wands allow you to register and change outfits on the fly. You can register multiple different outfits, then switch between them by pressing 'A'. We'll explain more about how to do so later on in the article.

How to Get a Wand

To get a wand in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you'll need to talk to Celeste. She will appear on your island on nights when there are meteors in the sky (more on those here). She'll give you a recipe for a Star Wand.

How to Switch Outfits Using Wands

To switch outfits using wands you'll first need to register them. To do so, head to a wardrobe. Select 'Edit wand outfits'. You can save up to eight, which you'll swap between when you press "A' with a wand equipped. For info on getting more outfits, head here.

Wands List

There's a few different kinds of wand you can get in the game. So far we've only found two, and there's no difference in how they act. Here's what we've got so far:

  • Star Wand
  • Bamboo Wand
