Anime Girl Black Ops Mod Brings a Touch of Fairy Dust to the Battlefield

Anime Girl Black Ops Mod Brings a Touch of Fairy Dust to the Battlefield

War is hell, but who says hell can't be colorful?

Okay, better sit down for this one. A new mod for Call of Duty: Black Ops III lets you swap out the gravelly-voiced soldiers with…gravelly-voiced soldiers who are also moe anime girls. Whoever said "War never changes" never witnessed one of those rare moments when war careens off the rails and goes into orbit.

The mod, which is titled "Call of Duty: Neptunia Ops III" utilizes models from the popular Hyperdimension Neptunia RPG series (if the name wasn't a giveaway). Neptunia is a series about game consoles (represented as anime girls) warring over territory. In other words, these ladies aren't as out-of-place in the Call of Duty environment as appearances may initially indicate.

There are still visual clues these gals aren't used to war in the rougher, dirtier Call of Duty franchise, however. Their proportions are off—the camera peers over their heads in most cinemas—and their weapons float in front of them (just call it magic, I guess). Also, the ladies' voices haven't been swapped out, so everyone growls and swears at each other in masculine tones. Wait until the zombies arrive—then things get really intense. Yes, the mod supports zombies mode as well as Black Ops III's single-player campaign.

Download Neptunia Ops III off Steam if your war games require an extra dollop of color.
