Anthem is February 2019's Best-Selling Game and BioWare's Second Best Launch Ever
The reception might have been rough, but the sales weren't.
BioWare's Anthem might have struggled in terms of its critical reception and subsequent community issues, but it was still the best-selling game on February 2019. According to the NPD Group, BioWare's online adventure not only topped the charts for last month, it was also the second highest launch month sales of any BioWare title outside of Mass Effect 3. Anthem is also the second best-selling game of year to date, surpassing last month's number two Resident Evil 2.
Bandai Namco also found success in February with the launch of Jump Force. The Shonen Jump-based fighter was the second best-selling game of the month, the fourth best-selling game of 2019 to date. It also saw the third-highest launch month sales of any game published by Bandai Namco.
Far Cry New Dawn came in at number four, a good start, but below Far Cry 5's debut last year. Metro: Exodus also debuted in the month, landing much lower on the charts, but still standing as a success for its developer. Exodus was the eighth best-selling game of February, beating the launch month sales of Metro: Last Light by nearly 50 percent.
Kingdom Hearts 3 remains the best-selling of 2019 to date, and number three on the chart for February. Time aligned from launch, Kingdom Hearts 3 is beating Kingdom Hearts 2 by over 80 percent.
