Anthem VIP Demo Inaccessible After Servers Immediately Hit Max Capacity [Update]

Update: EA says Anthem VIP demo issues are resolved on PS4 and PC. Xbox One still facing issues.

Update: EA has issued a statement saying the problems impacting the Anthem VIP demo on PS4 and PC have been resolved. Players still experiencing issues on those platforms can restart the game and the problems should clear away. EA is still working on fixing issues found on the Xbox One version of Anthem.

“The main issue impacting the Anthem VIP demo on PC and PS4 has been resolved. Anyone who has had an issue on those platforms should restart the game and attempt to join again. Our team is still working on fixes for some of the issues we’re seeing on Xbox One.”

Original Story: Anthem kicked off its VIP demo today for customers who pre-ordered Anthem, or are subscribed to EA's Origin Access subscription service. But high player traffic seems to have immediately caused servers to reach max capacity, and players are now prevented from accessing the demo.

If players try and enter the Anthem demo right now, regardless of whether they're playing on console or PC, they're likely to be greeted with the following message: "We're sorry, but the EA servers reached max capacity. Please try again later." This is because EA's Anthem servers were bombarded by players literally minutes into the demo going live.

A quick search on Twitter shows several users complaining about the maxed-out servers, though there are a couple users posting screenshots from in-game. So, while it seems some players managed to successfully log into the VIP Anthem demo, a lot of other players are stuck waiting for space to open up on EA's servers.

EA's official support Twitter account announced that the developers are currently adding more server space to Anthem. So hopefully the overcrowding issue will be resolved fairly soon.

For a lot of players, the VIP demo will be their first chance at getting to test out Anthem. EA previously held demos at its EA Play event at last year's E3 and hosted a private alpha test earlier this year. A public Anthem demo is scheduled for next week as well, so hopefully the server issues are resolved by then as even more players will gain access to Anthem's servers.
