Antoine Griezmann Pulls Off a Fortnite Celebration at the World Cup 2018 Final as Viewers Label it "Disgusting"
It's not the first, and it won't be the last.
Fortnite emotes can be a bit of strange bunch. Especially when they're pulled off by soccer players at the World Cup 2018 final.
For those that don't know, the World Cup 2018 final took place yesterday on July 15 between France and Croatia. France ended up winning the game 4-2 and taking the trophy, and among the goalscorers for France was Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann scored in the first half of the game from a penalty awarded through a VAR reply (a first for a World Cup Final). After he scored, he celebrated by performing the 'Take the L' dance, which you can see just above.
Basically speaking, the 'Take the L' emote in Fortnite is one of the most disrespectful emotes you can pull off. It's like kicking someone when they're down, and the fact that Griezmann did the dance in front of a packed stand of Croatia supporters doesn't exactly help matters.
Football fans watching the match who were familiar with Fortnite didn't think much of the celebration, with some labeling it "disrespectful" and "disgusting".
one thing i don't like about griezmann is his take the L celebration. cmon guys it's so disrespectful

Griezmann seriously so disgusting. That L celebration. No class whatsoever.

While the celebration is popular in Fortnite and this wasn't the first time Griezmann had used the dance to celebrate a goal, perhaps he should have chosen a dance that wasn't so inflammatory. The controversial awarding of the penalty itself didn't help matters.
In Fortnite news that isn't related to the 2018 World Cup, there's a bunch of brand new outfits in the game, as part of the recently launched Season 5. Check out our complete Fortnite Season 5 skins guide for a complete list of the new outfits.
