Earlier this week, Apex Legends developer Respawn changed up the game's map rotation. Added in were two maps that haven't been seen in quite a while, but now one of these maps is gone again from the game.
King's Canyon After Dark, the nighttime variant of the game's original map, has been entirely removed from the rotation. Check out the replies underneath the announcement below, and there's a pretty much a 50/50 split on players thanking and bemoaning the change.
Last week, we added in map rotation. After taking in all your feedback over the past 7 days, we've decided to make some changes to map rotation. Effective immediately, we'll be removing Nighttime Kings Canyon, and shortening how long regular Kings Canyon is available. pic.twitter.com/KcG6AbW3ZT- Apex Legends (@PlayApex) April 16, 2020
Following up on this announcement, Respawn stated that they made the changes so that players had more time to level up their Season 4 Battle Passes before the season ended. The majority of location-based challenges in Apex Legends Season 4 take place on the World's End map, so you're effectively locked out of completing these challenges while King's Canyon is in the rotation.
Additionally, Respawn revealed that the amount of time that the base version of King's Canyon will be in the rotation for has been reduced. Previously, you'd switch between maps every 90 minutes, but there's no word as of right now on the reduced time that King's Canyon will be available for.
