There's a New Apex Legends Teaser, and It Could Point to a Crypto Event

Could we be about to see another Town Takeover?

It would seem as though another in-game event for Apex Legends could be right around the corner. A brand new teaser has popped up on the King's Canyon map, which points to one character in particular: Crypto.

Just below, you can see a screenshot of the new in-game teaser in Apex Legends, courtesy of the Apex Legends subreddit. This banner has appears on the King's Canyon map, specifically near the Repulsor section of the map.

The nature of the banner bears a striking resemblance to Crypto, the notorious hacker of the Apex Legends universe. You might recall that Crypto was introduced to Apex Legends back at the beginning of Season 3, where he basically obliterated the King's Canyon map, which was the original map that the game first launched with back in February 2019.

On the Apex Legends subreddit, users have taken a crack at translating the coded numbers on the banner. It translated into something along the lines of "If you can see me I can see you," according to several users pouring over the code. If there's any character who uses technology to their advantage to spy on others, it's Crypto.

Plenty of users have theorized that this points toward a 'Town Takeover' event. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it's basically the name Apex Legends has coined for replacing a certain section of a map with a brand new area, themed around one character. Past examples have included Singh Labs giving us a look at Wraith's past, or the Gauntlet area themed around Octane's daredevil personality.

All things considered, it's certainly plausible that Apex Legends could be about to premiere a new area of the map themed around Crypto. Looking to the immediate future, Respawn has teased news of some sort for Apex Legends at the EA Play event later today on June 18. What news could be in store for the game is anyone's guess.
