After probably what is one of the worst guarded secret promotions in recent memory, EA and Respawn plan on announcing Apex Legends tomorrow. According to rumors, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe but isn't a Titanfall sequel.
Apex Legends is reportedly a class-based battle royale game supporting up to 60 players. One big omission however is the actual mechs called Titans. Instead, characters will have class-based hero abilities, making Apex Legends like Overwatch and Rainbow Six: Siege. The lack of titans is also probably why Apex Legends isn't being billed as a Titanfall game.
EA apparently held an event with select streamers who have been tweeting about Apex Legends all weekend once the news began to leak. Respawn CEO Vince Zampella tweeted that there will be a livestream Monday revealing everything about Apex Legends. The Apex Legends Twitch channel currently has the full reveal set for 12pm PT.
Looks like everything is unlocked now? Fun. So, if you like Respawn, our games or even me, you should tune in tomorrow. Our stream starts at 8am pt and we’ll tell you everything about Apex Legends. Everything. http://go.redirectingat.com?id=87431X1573192&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2FP0Svi1h5VS— Vince Zampella (@VinceZampella) February 4, 2019
Apex Legends is reportedly going to be playable for free as early as Monday for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Though it is free-to-play, it’s said there will be cosmetic-only microtransactions and loot boxes. Respawn is currently working on another game, this one set in the Star Wars universe called Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.
