Forge Used a Body Double, a New Apex Legends Fan Theory Claims

Triple bamboozle.

If you're still getting up to speed on recent events, Apex Legends' supposed upcoming hero was literally murdered before he even entered the game. Forge, the cyborg MMA-like fighter announced by Respawn, was killed in an interview by the mysterious Revenant, the actual new hero for the battle royale shooter.

But now some players are speculating; was that actually Forge that was murdered mid-interview? The post below on the Apex Legends subreddit certainly does raise eyebrows, positing that Forge used a body double in the interview where he was stabbed in the back by Revenant.

This would mean Respawn has pulled not one, but two switcheroos. Killing off your new character before he even entered your game was a bold move to say the least (and one that I loved), but this new theory would suggest that Forge was one step ahead of Revenant the entire time, putting a body double in the interview instead.

I can actually see this theory being true. It's a strange distinction for the animation team behind the interview to deliberately put in a character detail on Forge's face that isn't there for no reason. On the other hand maybe we're all just reading into this a bit much. After all, how many bamboozles can Respawn pull off with this one character?

Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation launches on February 4 (my birthday, cheers Respawn) for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Revenant will be the new playable Legend stepping into the game for the season, and we know precious little about the character right now. Aside from the fact that he's a cold-blooded murderer, of course. Don't forget, there's still that UFO flying high above the map...
