Apex Legends servers are offline as Respawn Entertainment investigates an issue where accounts are losing their progress. The problems seem to have begun after a new update was rolled out earlier today.
"We are aware and looking into the issue with accounts losing their progress after the update today," Respawn wrote earlier this morning in a tweet from the official @PlayApex Twitter account. "Will provide update ASAP." Respawn also recommends that until the issue is resolved, players should not buy or craft anything.
Until the issue has been resolved we recommend players do not buy or craft anything. We'll continue to provide updates, along with an ETA, as information comes in.— Apex Legends (@PlayApex) April 3, 2019
Today's 1.1 Update was mostly for quality of life fixes, but it seems that accounts were being reset to level one and having their rewards and progress stripped away. In a separate post on the official Apex Legends subreddit, Respawn's community manager confirmed that servers will be turned off for maintenance.
Reports of the level reset began popping up on social media shortly after today's 1.1 Update. On Twitter, players who were previously higher level are sharing screenshots of their accounts being reset to level one.
On the other hand, it seems like Respawn caught the problem early enough that other players are choosing to not download the new update until the problem is resolved. Respawn is highlighting the lost progression issue on both Twitter and the Apex Legends subreddit, and it seems to be doing a good job of warning players of the bugged update.
No word on when a fix might come down the pipeline, or exactly what went wrong with today's update. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
