Apex Legends Could Be Teasing Its Next Character in an Audio File

But who is "P"?

It certainly seems like Apex Legends is gearing up to reveal the next contender to enter the Apex Games. A new audio file was published yesterday by developer Respawn, in which we can hear Bangalore referring to an unknown character.

You can check out the full audio message for yourself on the Apex Legends Twitter account. It goes along the lines of, "Hey, it's Williams. Man, P. You already done? You ever sleep? Hiatus is coming soon. I'll swing by this weekend. Drinks are on me." For those unfamiliar with the character, Bangalore's real name is Anita Williams, but who is this newcomer she's referring to?

One line of thinking, particularly on the Apex Legends subreddit, is that it's actually Pathfinder that Bangalore's talking to. Asking a robot if they ever sleep is a legitimate question, I suppose. Then again, it's been pointed out that Williams isn't exactly on friendly terms with Pathfinder, as you can hear through in-game dialog if they're on the same team together, so it's unlikely that she'd be up for buying the robot a drink (if Pathfinder can even drink, that is).

"P" could also stand for Paquette, the surname of Wattson. Natalie Paquette was injured during the search for the Artifacts, and Bangalore did promise Wattson that she'd take her somewhere to heal and recover after the process was complete. Then again, while Wraith took Wattson into hiding during Season 5, only Crypto, Gibraltar, and Bloodhound were said to know Wattson's location.

Whatever the case may be, this is certainly a tantalizing teaser for the future of Apex Legends. It's likely that Respawn won't just settle at one teaser for this new character (if it even is a new character), so if you're keen to see how this one plays out, I'd recommend keeping an eye on the Apex Legends Twitter account for now.

This possible newcomer isn't the only thing Apex Legends is teasing. Construction signs popped up around several points on the World's Edge map last week, pointing to work being undertaken by the in-game Hammond Robotics corporation. Could we be seeing a map rework very shortly?
