April 2019 Sales Rankings: Mortal Kombat 11 Tops April NPD Charts on All Platforms Including Switch

NetherRealms' latest fighter hits an impressive milestone.

The bestselling games for the month of April have been announced courtesy of NPD. Mortal Kombat 11 dominated the charts, but it wasn't enough to dethrone some early 2019 standouts.

Mortal Kombat 11 swept the top spot for bestselling games in April 2019 across all three platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. This makes Mortal Kombat 11 the first third-party published Nintendo Switch game to top the console's charts since Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle in 2017.

However, the bestselling game of 2019 remains Kingdom Hearts 3 by Square Enix. This is all the more impressive given that Kingdom Hearts 3 was not even in April's Top 20 list. That suggests Kingdom Hearts 3's success has largely been driven by its sales at launch and immediate post-launch period. That no new release has managed to top a game that came out in January also speaks to the weakness of 2019's video game lineup in recent months.

The rest of the month's top sellers were driven by new releases like Days Gone and MLB 19: The Show. Here are the NPD bestsellers for April 2019.
