Assassin's Creed Origins and Final Fantasy XV Collaborate for Free "Assassin's Festival" DLC
Okay, raise your hands if you saw this coming.
In a surprise announcement at Gamescome, Ubisoft and Square Enix unveiled a promotional crossover between the upcoming Assassin's Creed Origins, and Final Fantasy XV. It begins with a free DLC for FFXV called "Assassin's Festival" where your favorite FFXV royal entourage roleplay as Bayek. Better yet, the DLC will be free for FFXV players.
The "Assassin's Festival" DLC will be available for FFXV starting on August 31. The story follows the Noctis gang as they get caught up in a festival where everybody dresses up as assassin's from the Ubisoft series. It's all fun and murder games until Cindy comes to the crew for help. Noctis, suddenly proficient in the art of Assassination, helps out Cindy but with a host of new Assassin's Creed inspired powers including stealth kills, Eagle Dives, and some good old fashioned parkour. You can check out the announcement trailer below.
Apparently, the first rounds of gifts will be distributed to FFXV players on August 30 when players who obtain a Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will receive an Assassin outfit for Noctis. The full Assassin's Festival DLC comes a day later, with even more themed items and outfits.
"In what started almost three years ago at an informal meeting during the Tokyo Game Show to express admiration for each other's work, the Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy XV development teams have announced a collaboration that will result in the two franchises paying homage to each other's gaming universes," wrote Ubisoft on the company's official blog. The blog even includes a promotional bit of artwork featuring Noctis from FFXV and Bayek from Assassin's Creed Origins wielding weapons inspired from each other's games.

Apparently, the teasers for this collaboration was in place since the Final Fantasy XV trailer from last November, as well as in the Assassin's Creed Origins announcement trailer. I'll be the first to admit that I completely missed those easter eggs.
No word yet on whether or not Assassin's Creed Origins will include any Final Fantasy XV DLC upon release.
