Assassin's Creed Valhalla Creative Director: Fans "Rightfully Expected to See More" From Today's Gameplay Reveal

One of Valhalla's leads comments on today's next-gen showcase.

Microsoft hosted an Inside Xbox stream today featuring next-gen gameplay for games coming to the Xbox Series X. One of the centerpieces of this event was the gameplay reveal of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but the response to what was shown has prompted one of the game's leads to address fans on social media.

Ashraf Ismail, creative director on Assassin's Creed Valhalla, posted a message to Twitter today about what ended up being a fairly brief unveiling of the game:

"You rightfully expected to see more today. We have a long marketing campaign ahead of us, you will see in-depth gameplay and get a lot more info about the game. Thank you for your excitement and passion! Be patient with us and be kind. It will be worth it!"

Fans weren't happy about the lack of gameplay in today's gameplay reveal, especially when Assassin's Creed has usually followed its reveals with real walkthroughs and specific feature breakdowns in the past. Today's reveal was still intriguing, but possibly dissapointing to those wondering what Valhalla would look like in the moment-to-moment action.

On the whole, today's Inside Xbox stream had some cool reveals but few surprises. As publishers are planning reveal streams, many collecting under the Summer Game Fest banner, for the coming months, it seems like reveals will be taking place over a longer period of time.

I am excited to see more of Valhalla when the time comes, though. The cross-gen Assassin's Creed looks to bring viking action to the Animus this holiday, with Xbox Smart Delivery enabled as well.
