A trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the next game in Ubisoft's historical action series, dropped today, and it came with some news. The viking-era adventure will hit current and next-gen consoles in holiday 2020.
In the trailer, we get a glimpse of viking life as the seemingly main character undergoes a ritual of sorts. Then an English king sends out troops, and soon, war is underway. There are longboats, fire arrows, and of course, lots of axes. The fight at the end of the trailer even features a classic Assassin weapon.
At the end of the trailer, Xbox Series X branding is shown alongside Xbox One. Confirmed by an interview with Eurogamer, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be splitting console generations this holiday, with both a Series X and PlayStation 5 version on the way alongside current-gen versions. A tweet from the Assassin's Creed France account confirms its set for PC and Google Stadia as well.
The viking theme for this installment of Assassin's Creed has been rumored for some time. Even Ubisoft teased the new setting last year, when a new easter egg in The Division 2 showed a viking holding what looked like an Apple of Eden.
Ubisoft hosted a teaser stream yesterday, where artist Kode "BossLogic" Abdo painted an image teasing the new setting. Once completed, it showed a viking-style character with the Assassin logo on his axe, with longboats on one side and warriors clashing on the other.
