It seems as though a story DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has leaked online. Through a store listing, we know we'll be exploring the legend of Beowulf in Ubisoft's viking game later this year.
The listing comes over on the German version of the official Uplay store listing for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While the line referencing the story DLC can't be found on the English version of the website, you can clearly see a reference to a story mission concerning Beowulf listed as DLC for the game in the screenshot below.
But, if you look at the store description, it seems to point to a single story mission rather than a full expansion. "Story-Mission" is the phrased used on the Uplay store, so perhaps it's best to temper expectations for the DLC.
Personally, I'm all for Ubisoft using the platforms of their historical games to explore legends and myths in different cultures. Assassin's Creed Odyssey delved into the Greek Sphinx for example, and Assassin's Creed Origins took a look inside the ancient pyramids and studied how Pharaohs were mummified before that. Look, I know next to nothing about the Viking era of my own country in which Valhalla takes place. Educate me, Ubisoft, I'm begging you.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases later this year for both current and next-gen consoles. It'll be coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5, having recently showcased some game footage at Microsoft's next-gen games showcase for the Xbox Series X. It'll also support Microsoft's Smart Delivery system, so all players transitioning to the Xbox Series X when it releases are guaranteed a free copy of Ubisoft's game if they purchased it on the Xbox One.
