Finally, Square Enix revealed its Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics. Titled Marvel's Avengers, the new game is a co-op action brawler where players can play and power-up their favorite Marvel superhero, and it's coming on May 15, 2020.
Avengers was first teased two years ago in 2017. Since then, there has been very little we've heard about the Marvel collaboration with Square Enix. Until tonight that is.
The new Avengers trailer showed five heroes taking to the fight: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, and the Incredible Hulk. In a story segment, the Avengers talk about a Terrigen reactor malfunctioning, teasing the possiblity of the Inhumans getting involved.
Square Enix previously revealed that the Avengers game would combine single-player and cooperative gameplay, and there seems to be some RPG elements to it as well.
Marvel's Avengers will have several years of content, according to Square Enix, playing out several storylines. Every new superhero and every new region for the game will also be free, and there won't be random loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios. PlayStation users will also have early beta access to certain "features," though those will be later announced.
Avengers is coming out on May 15, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. For more on tonight's Square Enix reveals, check out our E3 2019 Square Enix guide.
