Animal companions have a long history in RPGs, and in games in general. Don't believe me? Consider that one of the most iconic images in all gaming history is the Vault Dweller walking the empty road with Dogmeat at their side. Nadia and I honor that history by looking back on all of the animal buddies in RPG history, from sabrecats to space hamsters [download link here].
Nadia and I start by highlighting the roles that animals play in RPGs, whether as playable characters or support units. Then we move on to our five favorite animal companions, talking about beloved puppers like Interceptor and the role they play in their individual games. On top of that, Nadia and I discuss SteamWorld Quest, the Persona 5 Scramble announcement, and the rest of the week's RPG news!

From Interceptor to Boo, animal buddies have a strong history in RPGs. Kat and Nadia trace their history from the days of Dragon Quest 5 to the present day, discussing their various usages, as well as ranking their five favorites (spoiler: Dogmeat is in there, because Dogmeat is a very good boy). Plus, Kat and Nadia review SteamWorld Quest! Does Image and Form's popular indie series successfully make the transition to card-based RPG? Find out!
