I wouldn't want to force Kanji to be gay, or Naoto to be transgender because the story tiptoed on the line. All the characters are misunderstood, and the midnight channel is based on people's hyperbolic perceptions of each character. It was sort of understandable with Kanji, considering his crush on Naoto combined with his idea of being manly, when his home situation doesn't "seem" to be it. But when you figure out what's Naoto's deal, it kinda makes you uncomfortable that the writers chose that trope. And then Naoto's nightmare? There are plenty of stories about women pretending to be men to get their respect, from Mulan, to Yentl , to "She's the Man". But they weren't as drastic as "cyborg surgery". Yeah. I would love to play a Yentl themed dungeon in Persona.

I beat Devil Survivor multiple times a few summers ago. Thought it was a very interesting game, especially how they used the microwaves. I bought 2 on 3DS on clearance, but haven't opened it yet.

    Secret Base was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

I love how it winds and loops effortlessly with that "piano" of its...the song reminds me of a hybrid of Yoko Shimomura's non-combat Kingdom Hearts looping mixed with Trails of Cold Steel II's spare piano that way.

Best part? It's a remixed Sentai show theme song. God, Persona 5's going to be so damn good getting more of that onionly layering of meaning again. Unf unf unf.

Naoto is, true to the above comment, "oniony". Well, maybe not that, but full of "breadth". It wasn't JUST the sexism, or the transgender angle, but the youth angle, her "I'm the smartest in the room" angle, her weakness at judging the social scene, her vehement temper, and much much more.

Sadly, this just lead to her being shoved in a box labeled "Rei-esque Waifus Go Here" and that's that...Edited March 2017 by SatelliteOfLove

@SatelliteOfLove I've always loved that Secret Base song, too! Definitely the best dungeon song, in a game full of amazing songs!
