In this week's episode of the Axe of the Blood God, we delve into the history of this generation's most significant RPG publisher and developer: CD Projekt [download link here].
From its roots in the Polish black market, to its meteoric rise thanks to the Witcher series, to Cyberpunk 2077's lengthy development, we recount how Cyberpunk 2077 got to where it is today, and where it's going. We talk about its incredible achievements, but also note its rather chaotic development style, and wonder if it might eventually wind up being the successor to BioWare in more ways than one.
Note: We spend more time on the studio than the games themselves, so if you want a deeper dive into Witcher 3, you should check out the Top 25 RPG Countdown!
Also in this episode: Our thoughts on Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light on Switch, which holds up surprisingly well, and Atelier Ryza 2, the thicc new RPG that recently saw a fresh round of previews. Make sure to check out insaneintherain, whose excellent music we feature in this episode!

With Cyberpunk 2077 finally due out this week, it's time to take a harder look at the studio that is CD Projekt. Where did it come from? How did it rise to the top of the RPG heap over the past generation? And what are some potential stumbling blocks it faces in the future? Nadia and Kat delve into all this, with additional chatter about Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Atelier Ryza 2, and more!
