Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 and 2 Coming to Switch in 60 FPS

Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 and 2 Coming to Switch in 60 FPS

Did you miss the Striker Pack on 3DS? Inti Creates has its fingers crossed for a double-dip.

Over the weekend, Japan kicked off BitSummit in Kyoto, celebrating Japanese game development. While at the event, veteran developer Inti Creates announced a re-release of the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack on Nintendo Switch. The Striker Pack was previously launched on Nintendo 3DS, a single package containing Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2.

The new Striker Pack will have some upgrades for its Switch release. It'll offer a new screen layout, high-resolution character art, HD Rumble support, all of the DLC from the 3DS release, a brand-new theme song, and a few balance adjustments. The biggest change, other than the shift from dual-screen play to a single screen, is that the Switch version of the Striker Pack will run at 60 FPS, not the 30 FPS of the 3DS version.

"Since the 3DS game was created with emphasis on the visual aspects of the game, it was only able to run at 30 FPS on that system, but thanks to more powerful new hardware, 60 FPS Gunvolt is here for the first time," said Inti Creates in its announcement. "The biggest difference between the former 30 FPS and the new 60 FPS can be felt while playing as Copen, the super-quick, high-flying playable character from Gunvolt 2."

Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack will launch on Nintendo Switch on August 31, 2017. No retail price has been given, though the current release retails for $29.99.

Inti Creates also announced a sequel to Mighty Gunvolt, the 8-bit style action game that launched alongside Azure Striker Gunvolt to ride the wave of Mighty No. 9 love (at the time). Mighty Gunvolt Burst still stars Gunvolt and Beck from Mighty No. 9. The game retains an 8-bit style, though the color palette has seemingly been increased.

"The game systems have been completely revamped and powered up with lots of new additions, including a deep character customization system that lets you mold and shape your character into the ultimate hero that works best for you! The classic pixel style graphics have also been completely redone to blur the line between 8-bit and 16-bit and take you back to the golden age of 2D action games!" said the developer.

Mighty Gunvolt Burst is coming to Nintendo Switch and 3DS on June 15, 2017 for $9.99.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
