Batman: The Telltale Series is doing rather well when it comes to critic reviews, but players on Steam are reporting various issues with the title. Currently, Steam player reviews of the game are Mixed, with a number of users calling the game completely broken. Many cite performance issues and crashes as the primary reason for their dissatisfaction.
The performance issues are led by a severe lag and frame rate drop as low as 10 fps in some reviews.
"I've never experienced this type of lag before. The game is simply unplayable. Needs some serious improvements before considering buying it," said one review.
"I have a high end laptop and I have never had trouble running a game, this game was however running at about 10fps with a lot of sound issues and a lot of crashes. Do not buy until the issues have been worked out," added another.
Players are finding it impossible to change the game's resolution out of 720p, or reporting horrible performance after doing so. Many reference a lost or floating cursor after making resolution changes.
"Even after taking 15 minutes to figure out how to make the game 1080p and fullscreen, I couldn't start the game, as my mouse was stuck in a box in the upper left of the screen, making it impossible to hit the continue button on the brightness slider," said one review. "I wouldn't recommend this, at least until they patch the bugs, and from what I am reading, there's a lot more than what I'm experiencing."
Reviews are Mixed because a number of users had no issue playing the game on PC, including yours truly. That may have had something to do with the fact that I didn't touch the game's graphics settings at all. I was playing for our Twitch stream and didn't have a chance to mess around with the resolution. That said, there are enough reviews out there that point to a problem with the game.
Telltale has already released a patch for the Steam version. Hopefully, this fixes some of the issues players an experiencing.
