The formerly Xbox console-exclusive Below is headed to PlayStation 4 very soon, and it's coming with a new update. Below, a haunting dungeon crawler from Capybara Games, is getting a new Explore Mode to make seeing all it has to offer a little easier.
Below is set for PS4 sometime this spring, alongside the new Explore Mode. While a regular playthrough of Below entails monitoring various survival mechanics, like hunger and thirst, Explore does away with those meters. There are also no instant kills and permanent checkpoints, making the punishing exploration of Below a little easier to manage.
The Explore mode will also come to the Xbox One and Steam versions, though if you're hardcore about difficulty in your atmospheric dungeon crawlers, you'll still be able to play the original Below experience in Survive mode. The new Explore just offers an option for players who, as Capybara Games puts it, "value discovery over difficulty."
Considering there's already been a notable community effort to map out the world of Below and get new players acclimated, this spring seems like a good time to check the game out. That is, it's one of many games now fighting for your time in spring 2020.
