BioWare Sets a Date for VIP Anthem Demo

BioWare revealed when an exclusive demo for Anthem will be coming out.

BioWare is gearing up for the launch of their next big release, Anthem, and that includes releasing a VIP demo for BioWare's upcoming live-service action RPG. The demo will drop February 1, 2019, and will be available for all three platforms. The demo should not be confused with a beta or alpha test.

At the Anthem PAX West panel today, BioWare announced that a demo for Anthem will be coming out three weeks before the title officially launches on February 22, 2019. The demo will be exclusive to players who have pre-ordered the game or are members of either EA Origin Access or EA Origin Access Premier, both are EA's paid-subscription service.

Anthem

BioWare made it clear that this was going to be a demo showcasing what to expect from the full Anthem experience. That's why unlike in a beta or alpha, there will be no need to collect player feedback. Instead, BioWare will hold beta and alpha testings between now and Anthem's February release, though no dates were announced.

Anthem is BioWare's upcoming action-RPG and the studio's first live-action game. That means players will be playing with one another in an ever-changing, ever-updating shared world like an MMO. BioWare is of course known as a developer behind narrative-driven, single-player adventures and those aspects will be seen in the main hub world which BioWare says is a single-player experience.

Before Anthm BioWare released Mass Effect: Andromeda to mixed critical reception and commercial disappointment. BioWare boss Casey Hudson says that Andromeda's disappointment refocused the studio for Anthem, which is shaping up to be one of the studio's biggest projects.
