At EVO 2017 this weekend, Arc System Works announced the next entry in the BlazBlue franchise, a decidedly different sequel. As the name suggests, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is a crossover fighting game, using the core of the BlazBlue engine, but featuring characters from other franchises. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is planned for a release in 2018.
The full roster has yet to be revealed, but so far it features Ragna the Bloodedge and Jin Kisaragi from BlazBlue, Yu from Persona 4 Ultimate Arena, Hyde from Under Night In-Birth, and Ruby Rose from the RWBY animated series. There's currently no word as to whether those are the only series involved, or if BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will expand further.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle features the art of Konomi Higuchi as the lead character designer. Most everything else about the game is listed as "TBD", including the platform, price, and even number of players. Essentially, we're early here and now is the time to dream folks! Who else do you want to see in Arc System Works' version of Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax and Nitroplus Blasterz?
