Blizzard Teases New Overwatch Content With Mysterious Space Transmission

The gorillas are on the loose... in space!

Blizzard just dropped an in-universe story expansion that seems to hint at some new content updates coming to Overwatch sometime in the future. Players will most likely see this new content in the form of a new map, though the "possible fate of Horizon Lunar Colony" leaves a lot of things in the Overwatch universe a little open-ended.

Overwatch Lunar Transmission

In a "breaking" update for Overwatch, Blizzard posted a bit of storytelling regarding the Horizon Lunar Colony, a space station run by Lucheng Interstellar. The details fill-in the "genetic therapy" experiments that brought Winston into the Overwatch fold. Though, as the space transmissions reveal, another gorilla named Hammond also went rogue alongside Winston.

Blizzard's Overwatch transmissions also come with a map of the Horizon Lunar Colony that is most likely the set of a new stage. Especially considering that a "space" level was previously uncovered by fans through some datamining adventures. A new Overwatch stage set in space would be pretty great and not a setting that's been touched yet in the game.

Likewise, there are plenty of hints about another genetically enhanced gorilla named Hammond who could be a new character. I personally think Hammond is a red herring given that having another gorilla character feels antithetical to Overwatch's character roster, which so far hasn't produced any two characters that are alike. Also I just really want the next character to be Doomfist.
