Noted FromSoft modder and dataminer Lance McDonald is back on the scene for Bloodborne. This time, he's managed to get the game to run at 60FPS using his own fan-made patch.
You can see Bloodborne in action below, running on McDonald's patch. As he notes in the previous tweet, FromSoftware's gothic game doesn't actually have the proper timing needed to run at a smooth 60 frames per second, so the entire game basically runs in fast forward to compensate.
Ah, I did it! Bloodborne running with a 60fps frame cap (no v-sync so lots of screen tearing) with proper frame timing and game logic timing. This is running on a base PS4 pro, will try to get an actual FPS counter to display tomorrow and test on PS4 Pro with boost mode. pic.twitter.com/V6uxQ4bT9k- Lance McDonald (@manfightdragon) April 28, 2020
It's amazing to see Bloodborne running at a relatively smooth 60 frames per second. This is all being done on the base PlayStation 4 by the way, and McDonald notes that he'll try and circle back shortly to run the game with his own patch on a PS4, using the upgraded console's boost mode to show an FPS counter on the screen.
This is just the latest in a very long line of discoveries from McDonald. One especially noteworthy came in September 2019, when he went to work on Hideo Kojima's P.T. demo, uncovering the fact that the demo's horrific ghost was in fact always behind you throughout the game.
