Bloodborne for PC—people want it, we're now in a world where Horizon Zero Dawn is leaving the PS4, and the idea of playing it at a higher resolution and frame rate seems nice. A remaster of Bloodborne for PS5 also seems like a plausible proposal. According to new rumors, a remaster of Bloodborne is in development for both platforms. The rumors also point to remake aces Bluepoint Games being involved, though that may contradict what the studio has said about its next project.
Rumors of a PC port that kicked off on Twitter yesterday have since been expanded upon by the YouTube channel PC Gaming Inquisition, which claims that Bluepoint and QLOC, the studio behind 2018's Dark Souls Remastered, have teamed up for a new version of Bloodborne. In the video, the channel's operator also claims that Sony plans to end its upcoming PS5 game reveal event with an announcement of a Demon's Souls remake.
A next-gen remake of Demon's Souls has been speculated on time and again, usually with folks pointing to Bluepoint as the likely studio behind it. That could track with what little Bluepoint has confirmed about its next project: In 2018, after the release of its great Shadow of the Colossus remake, Bluepoint confirmed to Eurogamer that its next project would be another remake. Late last year, Bluepoint President Marco Thrush said that the studio is "working on a big one" for PS5, and the studio has made a few more teases since then.
If Bluepoint is working on a major remake, Demon's Souls or not, then it seems unlikely that it would also be developing a Bloodborne remaster with QLOC. It could be the case that the two are collaborating while Bluepoint takes more of a side-role while it crafts its next big remake, or perhaps Bloodborne is the project Thrush mentioned and a leaker's wires got crossed between remakes and remasters.
This is all to say that rumors of a Bloodborne remaster for PS5 and PC should be taken with a few extra grains of salt. It's also worth remembering that Sony Worldwide Studios' Hermen Hulst said that Horizon Zero Dawn's forthcoming PC port "doesn't necessarily mean that every [Sony released] game will now come to PC."
Still, this rumor has the attention of fine folks like Nibel and Wario64, so it has ours too. We're as eager for more Soulsborne news as everyone else, but until we find out more or catch a glimpse of Yharnam at Sony's PS5 event, we're pinning our big hopes on what we know we should be hearing about soon (c'mon Elden Ring).
