Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's DLC Roadmap For 2020 Includes New Modes, Another Playable Character

Plus some super secret crossover content.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the Koji Igarashi-helmed Castlevania successor, has cleared one million sales today. In celebration, developer ArtPlay and 505 Games are laying out the roadmap ahead for even more DLC in 2020.

Igarashi posted a short video to YouTube, thanking fans for helping the Symphony of the Night-like action game reach the one million milestone. He also teased some upcoming additions to the game, some of which are arriving pretty soon.

Two new features, Boss Revenge Mode and the Chroma Wheel, are arriving in an update on June 23 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, while Switch users will have to wait until July. Boss Revenge pits players against four bosses for the best clear time, while the Chroma Wheel opens up more options for customization with color palettes for hair, clothing, and skin.

More content is planned for the rest of 2020, including a Versus Mode, crossover content, and a new playable character, only designated by a series of question marks and a mysterious outline. There's also a Classic Mode in the works that looks to add a little retro tinge to the game.

ArtPlay's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night turned out to be a worthy successor to the Castlevania legacy after years of Kickstarter development, though it certainly still had some bumps along the way. It seems like most of the issues with the rocky Nintendo Switch port have been gradually ironed out however, and alongside the recent randomizer update and other features, it's nice to see Igarashi's latest get long-term post-launch support.

The first of these updates arrives on June 23, 2020, while Switch owners won't see the new content until July.
