If you've already worked your way through Borderlands 3's selection of planets and soaked up all the juiciest loot, you'll get some spooky new content to blaze through in the game's first limited-time event. When the Bloody Harvest event launches in late October, it'll bring Halloween themed loot and enemies, a haunting mechanic, some sick(ly) costumes, and a skeletal resurrection of one of the campaign's beefy bosses.
Paul Sage, creative director of Borderlands 3, showed off some footage of Bloody Harvest's loot and gameplay on Gearbox's official tie-in show. Sage says Bloody Harvest will kick off in late October and run for about 6 weeks, giving all Borderlands 3 owners ample time to complete the event's story content and track down all the available loot. There will be new guns, skins, a grenade mod, weapon parts, and a particularly cool skeleton make-over for Moze's Iron Bear mech to collect.
Some of Bloody Harvest's loot will counteract the event's new Ghost enemies. Ghosts emerge after you kill a "haunted" enemy. If you get touched by a Ghost, you'll be afflicted with the Terror debuff that makes it harder to aim. Sage advises players to keep an eye out for "anointed" parts, which sound like they'll turn the Terror status into a positive boost when equipped. Defeated Ghosts will also drop "Hecktoplasm," which can be collected and turned in to Borderlands 3's limited-time event quest giver Maurice. Maurice takes residence on the Sanctuary III ship, and happens to be a space dinosaur. This is a Borderlands game, so why not?
Bloody Harvest will feature its own map, Heck, which is where you'll find pumpkin-headed Rakk-O'-Lanterns and the event's main boss, Captain Haunt. Haunt's an undead version of Borderlands 3's Captain Traunt—specifically, he's the glowing, screaming skeleton variety of "undead."
Both Bloody Harvest and the upcoming Maliwan Takedown update will be free for all Borderlands 3 players, but all the opportunities and loot in the game's limited-time events will be exactly that: limited.
