Borderlands 3's Endgame Brings Back True Vault Hunter Mode

Borderlands 3's Endgame Brings Back True Vault Hunter Mode

Sounds like there's plenty to do once you've finished the main story of Borderlands 3.

At PAX West today, Gearbox has revealed several new details about Borderlands 3. All the new info pertains to the endgame portion of the loot shooter, and it seems like there'll be a lot still left to do once you've wrapped up the main story.

Firstly, there's the return of the True Vault Hunter mode from Borderlands 2. If you're unfamiliar with the mode, it lets players go back and repeat missions from the main story campaign after completion, but with adjusted difficulty settings for the chance of obtaining better loot items.

Next, there's Guardian Rank. This replaced the Badass Rank from Borderlands 2, and basically acts as a unique rank that you can ascend through once you've reached the base level cap.

Finally, there's Mayhem Mode, which was actually revealed earlier in the year in an interview with Borderlands 3's art director. Mayhem Mode tweaks the difficult levels of the game for your second, third, and any additional playthroughs, so it's a bit more dynamic than simply playing the same game again.
