Borderlands 3 is Targeting 60 FPS on Xbox One X, 30 FPS on Base Consoles

Borderlands 3 is Targeting 60 FPS on Xbox One X, 30 FPS on Base Consoles

4K resolution also confirmed, but only for Xbox One X.

Gearbox has revealed that Borderlands 3 is targeting 60fps on Xbox One X. However, Borderlands 3 is also confirmed to be locked at 30fps on base consoles.

Windows Central confirmed from Gearbox Software producer Chris Brock that Borderlands 3 will run better on Xbox One X. Microsoft's more powerful console will run Gearbox's latest loot shooter in 4K resolution with variable refresh rates.

Unfortunately, Brock also confirmed that the other consoles like PS4, Xbox One, and maybe even the PS4 Pro, will run Borderlands 3 in 30fps. "Xbox One will be 30fps. Xbox One X we're shooting for 60fps, but we'll do what we can. We intend to offer favor fidelity and favor performance-type options. Yes, 4K on Xbox One X," said Brock.

Windows Central is predicting different graphical options on the Xbox One X depending on player preference. So for example, one option would allow for 4K 30fps, while the other runs Borderlands 3 in 1080p at 60fps. However, this is just guesswork based on similar graphical options offered by other games.

We got a chance to play Borderlands 3 earlier this week in Los Angeles and came away quite impressed. For fans of the older Borderlands games, there's a lot to love because overall not much has changed with the core design. But Gearbox appears to have expanded the scope of Borderlands for the third game, introducing new planets, locations, and even a Mass Effect-like space ship.

Borderlands 3 is coming out on September 13, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out our Borderlands 3 guide for more coverage.
