A new Borderlands is coming, and we'll likely see it at Gearbox's big PAX East panel tomorrow. Until then, Gearbox Software is teasing fans with a stylish new video that reminds players why its dystopian loot shooter is so iconic.
The new teaser for what is likely to be Borderlands 3 doesn't reveal anything new. Instead, it revisits the series' past in style as past characters are idolized as monuments. The teaser, titled "Mask of Mayhem," packs the style of past Borderlands trailers in a bite-size teaser.
A new Borderlands has been rumored for years, with Gearbox president Randy Pitchford saying at last year's PAX West that Gearbox was "working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on." I don't think he was referring to Battleborn 2 when he said that.
The last Borderlands was Borderlands 2, which came out in 2012. Since then, there have been spinoffs, remasters, and VR games. My personal favorite was Telltale's Tales From the Borderlands adventure game that will sadly probably never get a sequel.
We'll have more info on the next Borderlands this Thursday at 2 p.m. ET when Gearbox takes a stage at PAX East for its big panel. We expect to see Borderlands, but also some other unannounced Gearbox games, so check back here for the latest details.
