Borderlands 3 is coming to next-gen consoles. Over the weekend, Gearbox announced that the third Borderlands game would be arriving on both Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 at some point in the future.
When it does arrive, the next-gen port of Borderlands 3 will be targeting a native 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X (Gearbox didn't say what enhancements would be available on the Xbox Series S). Additionally, the Xbox Series X, S, and PS5 ports of Borderlands 3 will all be introducing three and four-player local co-op on splitscreen.
Gearbox also revealed that save files would transfer over to next-gen consoles, and anyone who already owns Borderlands 3 on the PS4 or Xbox One will get a free upgrade to the next-gen console of their current ecosystem (thanks, VideoGamesChronicle). Borderlands 3 has received several DLC packages so far, and all of these will transfer over with the next-gen ports.
Finally, Gearbox revealed that there'll be a new Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 3 at some point later this year. This new Hunter will bring an entirely original Skill Tree and ability system with them, for even more carnage.
Borderlands 3's next-gen port will be arriving at some point after November 10, which is when the Xbox Series X and S launch worldwide, for $499 and $299 respectively. It's possible that we'll find out the PlayStation 5's launch date and price later this week on Wednesday, when Sony showcases a brand new PS5-centric showcase.
