New PlayStation 5 owners won't have to wait to pick up one of its quirkier and stranger upcoming games. Today, developer Young Horses confirmed that Bugsnax will coincide with the launch of the PlayStation 5 on Nov. 12, 2020.
Also coming to PS4 and PC via the Epic Games Store, Bugsnax also revealed its voice cast today. The snack-monster collecting game will have voice actors like Yuri Lowenthal, Debra Wilson, and Roger Craig Smith lending their talents to various denizens of Snaktooth Island.
Bugsnax took the gaming world by storm when it was first shown during the PlayStation 5's unveiling live stream. Its odd look, inventive world, and an infectious earworm theme from Kero Kero Bonito have made it just little bit infamous online.
Of course, there's also suspicion of a darker side to an island full of edible snack-creatures. The set-up of you, as a journalist, investigating this island's mysterious inhabitants and the disappearance of a top explorer who was looking into it certainly lends credence to that. The developers played coy when we talked to them in an interview earlier this year, but there certainly seems to be something strange afoot on Snaktooth Island.
A few additional previews of the game went live today, also showing off the general gist of what you do in Bugsnax; talk to the island's denizens, chase possible leads, and capture some tasty creatures in your traps. Otherwise, you'll be able to take your own trek to Snaktooth Island on Nov. 12, 2020.
