Bungie Cancels Planned Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Stream, Will Address Recent Controversies Instead

Bungie won't be talking about the new DLC tomorrow.

A planned Destiny 2 stream about the launch of the upcoming "Curse of Osiris" DLC has instead been turned into a stream that will address player concerns over recent controversies within the game.

In a post to the official Bungie forums, a representative announced that instead of a showcase for "Curse of Osiris" weapons and armors, tomorrow's update will instead be a blog post from studio leadership discussing the game's future goals and how Bungie is reacting to community feedback.

This is no doubt a response to the recent controversy over Thanksgiving weekend where it was revealed that Destiny 2 slowed down player leveling and progression the more efficient they were at gaining XP. The Destiny 2 community erupted once it was uncovered that Bungie was essentially throttling XP in Destiny 2.

Bungie shut down the feature in light of the controversy, but vocal members of the community are demanding refunds for the game.

Following EA's handling of microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront 2 which ended up forcing the company to remove monetary transactions from the game completely, it's clear that people who play video games are taking a hardline against unfair practices in games that might force players to spend money where they shouldn't have to.

It remains to be seen what Bungie has to say tomorrow in regards to the recent controversy, but with the Destiny 2 community currently up in arms, let's hope Bungie outlines some concrete answers for where Destiny 2 goes from here.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that Bungie will address the recent controversies in a stream. It is instead going to be tackled via a blog post.
