Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is celebrating the start of its 7-day free trial for Blackout, its battle royale, with a limited time mode that's perfect for newcomers. So, if you're new to Blackout or even just the battle royale genre, it might be a good time for you to check out Black Ops 4 today.
Called "Down But Not Out" mode, the LTM is a squads-only mode where players can respawn killed teammates each time the circle moves to a new area. One member of the team must be alive for the respawn to take place, otherwise the team wipes.
The LTM is already available on PlayStation 4 and will be coming soon to Xbox One and PC. The LTM will last until January 30 while the free trial for Blackout begins today, January 17, and will end on January 24. The free trial is available on all three available platforms.
While one of the core gameplay tenants of battle royale games is the one life rule, other battle royale games like Fortnite have similar respawn LTMs. Modes like Team Rumble in Fortnite and Down But Not Out in Blackout are great practice for new players. Since there's not the hassle of, you know, dying, respawns encourage players to train their offensive skills without the risk of crashing out of the game and sitting in matchmaking all over again for a second try.
