Call of Duty Blackout’s Next Limited Time Mode is All Snipers and Melee Weapons

And once the circle starts collapsing, it doesn’t stop.

Activision may have only just released a brand new limited-time mode into Call of Duty Blackout, but thanks to a recent leak we already have details on the next one. It’s called Ambush and is a snipers and melee weapons-only affair in which the circle continuously closes in.

The news of the new Ambush mode leaked late last week when a notification was triggered prematurely in the Call of Duty App. Eagle-eyed users quickly took to Reddit to share the slip-up, prompting Activision to confirm the mode. The description for Ambush mode reads as follows:

Ambush is on. A new Blackout Mode has hit the front lines: Ambush. Skulker and Dead Silence just got a hell of a lot more valuable because in this battle of tactics, all you’ll find are Sniper Rifles and melees. Keep your eyes peeled for outlander too, because once the circle starts collapsing, it never stops.

In a reply to the original Reddit post, Activision revealed that Ambush will launch after the current run of Down But Not Out—a limited time mode were players can respawn under certain conditions. This mode is expected to be live for "a couple of weeks on each platform," so don’t expect Ambush until then.

Players can currently jump into a free trial of Call of Duty: Blackout, as the battle royale mode will be completely free until January 24, 2019.
