Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Listing Spotted on Amazon Italy
A second Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game could be remastered.
A wild listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has appeared on Amazon Italy, creating speculation that Activision will re-release another classic Modern Warfare game on PS4, Xbox One consoles.
If the listing is accurate, it would be the second Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game to get a remastered edition after the first Modern Warfare game was remastered for PS4, Xbox One, and PC back in 2016. We've reached out to Activision for clarification.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in 2009 and developed for Activision by Infinity Ward. The game was the immediate sequel to the hit, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and it furthered the trend of future Call of Duty games as the series abandoned its WW2 roots (until last year's Call of Duty: WW2 by Sledgehammer Games) in favor of gritty, modern settings.
The game however has attracted some recent controversy from Republican lawmakers who showed clips from Modern Warfare 2 in a video President Trump shared with members of the games industry to highlight video game violence and its effect on gun violence.
This is also another older Activision title receiving a HD remaster. At a investor's call earlier this year, Activision made clear that players should expect more HD versions of older games, especially after the success of the Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy.
It should be noted that the placeholder date for the Italian listing of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is April 30, which if true or near the actual date means that we might be hearing about Modern Warfare 2 Remastered sooner rather than later.
