We got our first glimpse of the next campaign for Call of Duty today, and it's all about the thin lines of modern warfare. Shown during Sony's State of Play live stream presentation, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare looks to echo its predecessor in tone, as well as its gameplay modes.
Captain Price returns as the central figure of Modern Warfare's story, this time enlisting the help of local fighters to hunt down a greater threat. Ominous lines like "where do we draw the line" are spoken in grim, somber tones. It's very 24, which seems fitting for Call of Duty.
Ending with chemical weapons and larger schemes, the trailer for Modern Warfare is certainly gorgeous. The face scans are surprisingly effective, especially in carrying across Price's character. Our initial impressions of Modern Warfare from last May were that its campaign was back to its usual provocative self, touching on subjects like child soldiers and chemical weapons. Whether it sticks the landing is a question we'll probably have to wait until later in October to see.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
