Don't cry, Switch owners. The original Devil May Cry is coming to Nintendo's hybrid console, marking the first time the Devil May Cry series has come to any kind of Nintendo system. The Switch edition of the game is based on 2018 Devil May Cry HD remaster collection for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though it's being sold as a stand-alone title.

Capcom announced Devil May Cry's upcoming Switch debut on its official Devil May Cry Twitter account last week. Capcom informed USG via email that the Switch version of Dante's debut hunt is from the 2018 Devil May Cry HD remaster collection, and there currently aren't any plans to release other titles from the collection onto the Switch. Capcom wasn't able to confirm a price for Devil May Cry at this time.

"Capcom is focused on bringing the original Devil May Cry experience for the first time to a Nintendo system," the company states. "No other titles have been announced."

The Devil May Cry HD Collection contains Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3. It sells for about $19.99 on the PlayStation 4 when it's not on sale. An official site for the Devil May Cry Switch port went up recently. It's worth mentioning the site explicitly says the Devil May Cry for the Switch is download-only and there are "no plans to release a physical edition."

Port-mania is running wild on the Switch, and people are dishing up tons of cash to play previously-released games on Nintendo's hybrid portable. Capcom recently released an excellent port of Dragon's Dogma on the Switch, but it remains to be seen if even port-hungry Switch owners will reach into their wallets for a single game broken off from a budget-priced collection.

It might happen: People are wild about beautiful half-demon boys all over again. Capcom is currently riding high off the devilish success of Devil May Cry 5, which has received critical acclaim and sold over two million units in two weeks.
