Capcom Releases Mysterious Teaser for Classic Games

Darkstalkers, Street Fighter, Aliens all in one place. What could it mean?

Capcom is teasing an announcement for what looks like classic games related news for tomorrow at 8am PT. The brief teaser includes clips from various Capcom fighting games such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Alien vs. Predator arcade game.

Capcom published a short teaser on its official Facebook page this morning announcing, "Here Comes a New Challenger." In the video, you can see what looks like a classic fight stick or arcade cabinet, and in its reflection, scenes from classic Capcom games.

Internet commenters are speculating either a crossover Capcom game in the vein of Capcom Fighting Evolution, where characters from various Capcom franchises go head-to-head, or a Capcom classic games compilation. Both are likely possibilities based on the teaser, though we'll have to wait until the official reveal to know for sure.

Teasing anything remotely featuring Darkstalkers is going to be a landmine as Capcom's vampire fighting game is currently a dormant franchise that fans have long been asking to see again. Since multiple games were shown in today's teaser, it's unlikely the news for tomorrow is for a standalone Darkstalkers game. But it will be featured in some way, presumably.

We'll have to find out tomorrow when Capcom reveals whatever it is planning to show at 8am PT/11am ET. Check back in at USG for the full reveal.
