Catherine: Full Body isn't slated to release in Japan until next week, but details from the expanded new story are already leaking. This includes the mystery of Rin, the newest "Catherine" to be introduced into the game as a possible love interest for Vincent. While there has been plenty of speculation on the true nature of Rin's character, the leaks straight-up spoil her plot. And it's unpredictable to say the least.
Major spoilers for Catherine: Full Body below. Please be warned.
In Catherine players take the role of Vincent, a commitment-phobic man whose anxiety over his relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Katherine, leads him to have nightmares about climbing giant puzzle towers. He also gets thrown into a messy entanglement with not one, but two other women. One named Catherine from the original game, and Rin, who's introduced for the first time in Catherine: Full Body.
Not much is known about Rin, but there was some speculation that Rin could be a trans woman based on some early trailers and advertising material. The most well-known example is when Vincent sees Rin naked and appears shocked to see her body, a known transphobic trope in media.
Atlus had previously been criticized for its handling of trans representation. The portrayal of Erica, another trans woman in Catherine, had a plotline that was used to embarrass another character. Critics were worried that Atlus might make similar missteps with Rin.
Well, leaked cutscenes from what looks like major parts of Rin's storyline have found their way to Reddit. It turns out that Rin is an alien, belonging to a race of one-eyed pink extraterrestrials. Weirdly enough, one of the original endings in Catherine involved Vincent going to space, so there is a connection between the Catherine franchise and space-traveling sci-fi. Kudos if you managed to guess that reveal.
Catherine: Full Body doesn't have a firm release date for North America other than a confirmation that it will release in western territories. Atlus did recently release Catherine Classic for PC, a remaster of the original game with 4K resolution.
