CD Projekt Reconfirms Another Game Besides Cyberpunk 2077 Releasing by 2021

Is it the next Witcher or something else?

CD Projekt Red's only officially announced game at the moment is Cyberpunk 2077, which has no release date beyond "when it's done". There's another game on the horizon though. According to a forum post by CD Projekt Red moderator Donata Poplawska, the second game is coming by 2021.

"As far as the strategy of the CD Projekt Capital Group for 2016-2021 is concerned, its plans to release the second AAA game by 2021 remain unchanged. We are currently focusing on the production and promotion of Cyberpunk, so we do not want to comment on further projects," said Poplawska in the post, translated from Polish by Resetera user Antiax.

Nearly a year ago, CD Projekt Red originally stated that Cyberpunk 2077 was coming between 2017 and 2021. At the same time, it also revealed a second project in development, coming within the same release window.

Following the E3 2018 debut of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński said that there were more Witcher games in the future, though the next game wouldn't be "The Witcher 4".

"The first three Witchers were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game 'The Witcher 4'. This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more," Kiciński said at the time.

Is next The Witcher the other unnannounced game, or is CD Projekt Red trying something different? We have two years to find out!
