CD Projekt Red Says "No Plans" to Bring Cross-Save to Other Versions of The Witcher 3

The Switch can share with PC, but there aren't plans to do the same for PS4 or Xbox.

The Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt just got a patch which, among other things, opened up save file integration between the Switch and its Steam and GOG versions. But it sounds like Nintendo's hybrid handheld will, for now, be the only console with that feature.

Speaking to USgamer, a spokesperson for CD Projekt Red confirmed the functionality was made specifically for the Switch version.

"This option is something we designed for the Switch version specifically, together with Saber Interactive—the team which was closely cooperating with us on the Switch port," the spokesperson tells USG. "There are no plans regarding similar functionality in the other versions of The Witcher 3."

So while Switch owners will be able to continue their PC adventures on the go, don't expect to see a similar feature for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One anytime soon. CD Projekt Red does warn on its site to be careful about transferring modded save files, or any PC saves with adjusted file names.

The patch also added increased text language options and touch control support, as well as some graphical options and performance optimizations. Digital Foundry praised The Witcher 3's port to the Switch at launch, and since then, modders have found ways of pushing the game even further.

With saves able to cross over platforms, similar to other games like Divinity: Original Sin 2 and its Switch port, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's handheld version now has a major leg up over its console counterparts.
