"Collection of Mana" Resurfaces Through New Square Enix Trademark
The Switch collection could be coming to English Switches.
Mana fans' wait may finally be ending. Square Enix has filed a trademark for a "Collection of Mana" in Europe, hinting at something to come for the old role-playing franchise.
This could potentially be an English version of the Seiken Densetsu collection, released in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. It had, at one point, been considered for an English release, as well as a Switch version of the 2018 Secret of Mana.
The 2018 remake of Secret of Mana was met with a lukewarm reception, whereas the re-release on the SNES Classic seemed to be the more ideal way to re-experience the classic. The Mana series has been classicly difficult to actually get hold of and play until recently, so a single package containing them all is not a terrible idea.
The producer of the Mana remake said as recently as 2018 that he "would love" to remake or port Seiken Densetsu 3, the third game in the series that has yet to be officially translated for western shores. If packaged all together, this could be a big get for Mana fans holding out hope for an official way to play all three games on one platform.
We'll likely learn more as we get closer to E3 2019 and Square Enix's press conference. In the meantime, if you have a SNES Classic, you should check out Secret of Mana. It defies RPG tropes and is just a blast. And that's not just what my colleague Nadia Oxford is forcing me to say, either. Keep an eye on our guide to all things E3 2019 as well.
