A number of games were revealed today for Sony's PlayStation 5, but one hit from our current generation has confirmed it will be crossing over too. Remedy Entertainment confirmed today that Control will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Announced via Twitter, Remedy says that further details will come at a later date. As a current-gen game, one main question on the minds of those who already own the game is likely whether or not it will have next-gen upgrades in place, like Xbox's Smart Delivery system.
Considering how gorgeous of a game Control is, especially on PC, graphical improvements are of high interest as well. Both the PS5 and Series X are packing some impressive hardware, so it'd be fantastic to see the next-gen console versions go toe-to-toe with how PC players have been experiencing Control. Hopefully it includes lots of ray tracing.
Control's a great candidate for a next-gen upgrade showcase, too. It was popular in the end-of-year game awards circuit, and even here at USgamer, Control was on several of our GOTY lists, including mine. Its a fun shooter, but also an engrossing world to get lost in. It's rare that I remember a game's font as clearly as I remember the chapter title cards for Control. Those alone are worth the price of admission.
With more DLC content that's arrived since launch, I'm eager for another experience to dive into the Oldest House and see how far these consoles can push the graphics. Or at least, how high fidelity one Dr. Darling can get. We'll know more about Control's next-gen plans as Remedy announces them.
