Crackdown 3 Release Date Announced for February 2019
It's been a long time coming.
Last we heard of Crackdown 3 is that it was delayed until 2019. At today’s X018 event in Mexico City we finally have a proper release date. Crackdown 3 is coming to Xbox One consoles on February 15, 2019.
Crackdown 3 was originally set to release in 2016 before moving back to November 2017. The release was then pushed back again to Spring 2018 before news broke that Crackdown 3 was delayed to 2019. Now after years of waiting we finally have another new release date for Crackdown 3.
Microsoft showed off a new PvP mode called Wrecking Zone which will be available on day one. Crackdown 3 will also be available on Xbox Game Pass in day one also. The original Crackdown is now available for free in the Microsoft Store until November 30.
Crackdown 3 is developed by UK’s Sumo Digital and is a sequel to the destruction-focused shooter Crackdown 2. The game utilizes cloud technology to create highly-destructible environments but there were some challenges to development along the way.
In an interview earlier this year Sumo Digital director Paul Porter revealed that he didn’t want that Crackdown 3 to have a similar mixed-reaction as Crackdown 2, thus the numerous delays to improve the game’s quality. We’ll see how Crackdown 3 holds up when it comes out in February 2019.
